Lesson 1: Tanning and Skin Presentation

Tanned skin is not baseline skin.

Recent sun exposure increases pigment at the surface, which causes more laser energy to stay in the
skin instead of reaching the follicle. This increases the chance of burns, blistering, and pigment
changes.

Recently tanned skin should not be treated. The skin must return to baseline before treatment.

Self-tanner should be fully removed or faded before treatment.
