PFE appears immediately after treatment and settles within a few hours.
Folliculitis develops later, usually one to several days after treatment, and may worsen before improving.
If a client reports increasing bumps, tenderness, or forming whiteheads after treatment, this is not consistent with PFE and is more consistent with folliculitis.
